cotton candy does not bode well...

in the humid depths of Houston.

I should have taken some pictures of the shriveled little excuses for cotton candy at the end of the day Saturday, but alas, I did not. Just take my word for it. Cotton candy as party favors in the heat of the summer in Houston didn't work out so hot. Ashley and I spun more cotton candy over the span of three days than I ever care to do in my lifetime. Didn't even get a picture of the stupid stuff when it did look good. boo. in fact, the only picture of cotton candy is this one, in a sad state of aftermath (how did it end up on her eyebrow you ask? I have noooo idea)-
Anyways, celebrated Cameron's 6th birthday Saturday. Crazy. He's officially going to be 6 Wednesday.

Brent's not posing like that- he was a super dad and was holding the umbrella over Cameron while he opened his gifts....
He had a fabulous Star Wars County Fair Pool Party, with tons of friends, and even more sugar to go around. Between the snow cones, the cake and the deflated cotton candy we sent the kids on their way with, I'm sure the parents were all loving me on the way out the door.Had a great time though- and tons of help from fabulous friends was SO appreciated! Especially since miss grace myself managed to break my pinkie toe Friday afternoon. And no, I have no fabulous story to tell- just being my usual klutzy self =)
Cameron had his first outing without me Friday. His friend Jacob wanted to go to the science museum with two of his friends, and his mom and dad took them. Is it crazy if I started to cry when I was giving Cameron the talk about strangers, manners, money, etc. before Jacob's mom came to get him? Ugh. They had a great time though, and he was great (of course!)...
Ashley and I took the kids bowling last week- the kids had fun- always a fun rainy day thing to do... anyways, love this picture of Megan trying to reach up to put her arm around Cam.... even though it almost looks like she's attempting to choke him....
off to get some stuff done- we leave for my mom's on Thursday, and have another birthday party tonight to go to, and celebrating Cameron's birthday Tuesday night, and Wednesday... Cameron's learning how to do it right, and stretch that celebrating out! ha!
Have a great week!

to create...

some new stuff for KMA this month... it's been a little harder this summer to squeeze in some creativity. At the moment though, I'm enjoying the strange beautiful sound of peace and quiet at my house... the kids are at their grandparents, and Brent's at the Astro's game.... how lovely... yet odd. i can count on one hand the number of times I've been alone in my house, since usually when the kids are not with me, it's because i have an appointment of some kind, or a rare date with my husband.
had the master bedroom painted yesterday, and it rocks. it was the last surviving room that had not been painted since we moved here, and now it's got its own fresh coat. yay!
also enjoyed the most fabulous dinner at Tommy Bahama's last night. they have the most wonderful food and service every time we go there. I'll warn you to be careful with their coconut cloud martini- one will take care of any woes you might have. We walked around Market Street for a while after, and headed into Bath Junkie for the kids to make some concoctions with Gramma... it's been a tradition for some years now- I'm pretty sure Gramma loves it as much as the kids do. I got some yummy lotion too this time- I keep sniffing myself!
off to enjoy the peace a little more.... happy sunday!

wordle

check it out. Found this site from Sara... I just posted in the link to my blog, and this is what it generated.... definitely saving the site to my favs for future use. rocksome.

got back from the beach. good times. 6 kids, 3 moms, and Kurstee came down and spent two days with us, too... we had a great condo, and the beaches were clean (still Galveston, but they were clean) and the pools were fun, too. And there was definitely no shortage of food =)
the trip, in numbers:
301- # of pictures I ended up with, including what I stole from Brandy's flickr.
3- # of nights we stayed at the condo
5- times I used the blender to make fruity frozen drinks for the moms
2- number of fiction books I managed to read this week, more than I've read in the last two years. woot!
1- number of sea creatures that died in our care after captured (it was a snail)
1- number of life lessons that unexpectedly came up
2- number of injuries- Jordan was bit by a crab on her foot, Jensen was graced with a jellyfish
100- gotta be close to the number of pounds of food we had.
30- minutes it took after we got home before Cameron asked,"What are we doing now?"

the rest of the month, in numbers:

Cameron's party is in 7 days. ack! much to do...

Cameron turns 6 in 12 days.... holy smokes... cannot believe it.

We leave for Washington in 13 days... so much to do.

3 birthday parties next weekend...still the season...

1 pedicure desperately needed

and one hair appointment that needs to be made before we got to my mom's.

in the meantime, it's hot, and I'm off to jump in the pool with the kiddos!

Happy 4th, Happy birthday, happy day...

What a fun, exciting, exhausting week and weekend! Ethan and Em were here for the week with us, so we were a bustling house all week! Not to mention all the fabulous friends that came over to play, and a mud pie stop in there too!
Thursday Brent and Cam went to the Astro's game, so I took Em, Ethan and Megan and zipped up to Lake Livingston to Heather and Harry's lake house for the day ( I say zip mildy, since I got a lovely speeding ticket on the way up there. boo.) and had a great time. Em rode the jet ski, and then we went out on the boat and Ethan had his first boat ride, and Megan got to ride on the tube! (she was VERY proud of that spiderman jacket!)Friday was the 4th, and we did the traditional parade, where the kids loaded up on candy... I'm pretty sure if they could have just thrown it directly into Meg and Em's mouths, they would have been thrilled! this picture cracks me up- my husband jumped in at the last minute- jumping the Keller ship to become a Fuja! ha!

We headed back to the house after the parade, and had a few families over to celebrate and swim, and blow stuff up... I got no spectacular pics of the explosives, but I love this picture... Tyler with his arms around Tristan and Cam, and Megan sitting down there with the boys where she just thinks is where she belongs... Madison was sitting on Sabrina's lap the whole time, but not Meg- right in there with the big boys!

Saturday was *sniff* Susu's 18th birthday- Happy Birthday Susu!! Really really cannot believe it... time just flies... we celebrated with dinner at the spaghetti warehouse, and Susan went on to have her fortune told... four kids, huh susan?

off to finish up some stuff- this week is much quieter, but filling up quick, and I need to get crackin' for Cameron's birthday party... so much to do, and it's going to sneak up on me.. the fabulous Brandy once again made the invites, and they're adorable! Not to mention we're headed to the beach next week... summer rocks!
