Happy 6 month Birthday Megan!

oh, my. Six months has gone by so quick. I know it's such a cliche, but it really has. You're so beautiful (it's totally unbiased I swear) and growing so fast. We're well on our way with the usual baby stuff- you've conquered pretty much all the fruits and veggies in the pureed jars department, and you've also tried some avocado (that color of green looked great on your pink shirt). You have this great habit of sucking on your thumb between bites of food, making a completely unavoidable mess that's quite amazing. The food slowly makes its way down your arm, then you sometimes switch thumbs, continuing the mess journey, then it's slowly all over the high chair and whatever other surroundings you manage to touch.
Your drool is a constant source of amusement. I've been hearing for the last three months that you're going to cut a tooth any day- you'll probably be like your brother and take your time on it.
You're a little bouncing fool, just as your brother was. It's definitely your favorite, and even when you're not in the johnny jump-up, if we hold your hands while you're standing you just bounce in place. You can sit up now, although you still occasionally do the topple over. You don't love being in the car seat so much anymore. It's turned into a mad race between the time I get you strapped in the seat to when we all get loaded up and down the driveway so you don't start nagging. You don't really cry, so when you squawk at us it's more like nagging.
You love to sing along with anyone, anytime we start singing you croon along too- we sound like a bunch of hound dogs in the house. You love to have Cameron sing to you, and play with you. He can get you giggling in no time with his silly antics.
You like to go to sleep on your own- the only time you fall asleep in my arms is occasionally when I'm feeding you, although your Daddy can get you to fall asleep in his arms in no time.
One of your best traits is your love of snuggling. You can smile at me and bury your head in my shoulder like you could stay there forever. So soft and sweet, and that fabulous baby smell. Every time you do it, I swear to myself I'm never going to forget that moment. I love the way you smile at anyone and your world is so happy. All I do is try to emblazen those moments as best I can in my memories, because I know these days are so fleeting. I love you, Megan!

OOTM Part II.....

Cameron: What's Maggie's middle name? (Maggie is our dog)
Brent: Maggie Elise
Cameron: So, if we're mad at her and want to yell her name, we should yell "MAGGIE ELISE", right?
Brent: uh, yes, I guess you would.

***I should note that I have no idea where he could have gotten this from, since I never ever yell at my child.... *falling off of chair laughing*

These Babes...

I could just eat them up!

Cameron, with his fresh new haircut- he always looks super handsome after I cut his hair (usually because I wait so long to cut it that he's looking pretty shaggy) always hamming it up for the camera when you don't ask him to!
Megan, with her ever-present drool off the chin and slightly tinted orange nose from eating those sweet potatoes she loves so much. Her and her brother are neck and neck for the length of hair these days. She's sitting up on her own, although the pillows are helpful Cameron's way to protect her when she 'topples'.
Cameron is loving playing 'This little piggy' with her, and still sings to her so sweetly when she cries, which isn't too often. Megan adores her brother, and lights up as soon as she sees him. Man, I love these kids. So blessed.

Out of the Mouths of Babes...

Brent: How was your day Cameron?
Cameron: I didn't have a day.
Brent: What do you mean you didn't have a day?
Cameron: Mommy didn't take me nowhere. I didn't have a day. You got to go to WORK!

This is apparently what I've conditioned my child for. He wakes up in the morning, and comes and asks me where we're going. If I tell him we're not going anywhere, he either A) thinks I'm full of it (which most of the time I am) or B) his life has lost meaning, and he no longer has a 'day' if he doesn't leave the confines of the house at least once.
Brent said I obviously have relayed my OCD ADD (as he fondly refers to it) condition onto our children since they seem to have an inability to enjoy any vegetation process of doing not much of anything. *sigh* It was only a matter of time.

Had a fabulous time this weekend- I did more scrapping in the last 3 days than in the last 3 months! It was so fun to have the Houston Boodles over for some scrapping on Saturday, and it's great to really get in a swing of things- scrapping for me is like a drug- the more I do it, the more I want it. I'm contemplating looking around for a few DT here and there, and submitting my work again. In 2004 I was active in submitting, and actually was lucky enough to be published, and was on a DT until the store closed. After that, I just kind of lost the urge for a while. It's back now- I like to have a deadline, to work as a team. I do miss that aspect of working outside the house. We shall see.... wish me luck!

testing...1,2,3....

I've decided to start trying new recipes again. I had kind of gotten in a rut, partly because I could serve top ramen for dinner every night and my husband could care less, so it makes me lazy. Not that he doesn't appreciate when I do cook, he's just as happy with pizza and BBQ potato chips I think. Anyways, I got the new Rachael Ray magazine and tried making a couple of things from there. This one went over well. This one, not so much. I really liked both of them though. Brent said the second one's a 'chick food'. Tomorrow night I'm trying Ham & Cheese Cannelloni. Maybe by the end of the week Brent will be begging for pizza... which will work right into my plan of uninterrupted scrapping for the majority of the weekend! Yeah!

This kid is dangerous

Watch out- just so you know, it hurts the big toe when this bad boy runs over it. Or so I've heard.

And just so you know, this was not today. It was 4 days ago, when it was 45 degrees out, unlike today when it was 82.

Happy Hearts Day!

I was at the grocery store this morning, and was surrounded by cheesiness. The things they come with now for the desperate last minute husbands. I told Brent to never bring me home anything wrapped in cellophane after what I saw today- if he ever felt the need to, just to come home and confess.
I did get some beautiful flowers today in a snazzy vase. The ones in the background were on the table at the Melting Pot Sunday (along with a cheesy bear, but once every few years is fine).
Cameron and I made the holiday cookies this afternoon- pink chocolate chips, with one or two actual sprinkles here and there- the rest of the sprinkles can be found on our kitchen floor- I think I'll try to pass them off as decorations. The little buggers roll verrrry far on hardwood floors.

The Melting Pot was fabulous as usual on Sunday- we went this year with the Trahan's and Cumberland's- mucho fun with at least a million worthwhile calories consumed. YUM. Always fun hanging out with great friends, too.

Saturday got together for Tiff's husband's birthday- Brent stayed home with sleeping children while I went to go "for and hour or so".... somehow that turned into 1 am, but I have no idea how. Had a blast though- first time in a long time I could hang out with Heather and Tiffany with no babies or babies on the way for any of us. It was one of those great nights where everyone had a blast. But geez, I'm getting old- definitely can't do that kind of thing too often anymore. Wish Brent would have been there though!

B&W or color?

I can't decide which I like better....

Super Grover!

Please note in this picture those fantastic cowboy boots Cameron is wearing. Before we even got out of the door this morning we had a battle of the shoes. Brent loves those boots just as much as I thought he would, which is not at all, whereas his son is completely infatuated with them. You can see who won.

We took Cameron to his first Sesame Street performance today. He loved it until about the last 15 minutes, and then he was done. But the program was a little longer than I thought it would be. It started at 10:30, and we got out at 12:10.

Just to forewarn anyone who decides to go, plan on bringing about $500 with you. They are the smartest people on the planet with the marketing- I mean, how can you possibly deny your child one of these??

Now, mind you, they sell these lovely balloons at intermission for $8, so that you can spend the second half of the show bobbing and ducking random gigantic Elmo heads. Make sure to look up at the top of the arena, so that you can see the hundreds of dollars worth of Elmos that have been set free from the random children, then causing mass hysteria much to the dismay of now broke parents.
Please also bring the thickest coat you own, as they keep the AC going at about 40 I think- hard enough that my hair was catching a breeze the whole time. I'm sure it's because of the poor people underneath all those furry costumes are suffocating for the duration of the performance. I wonder about those people in these things- I imagine how the conversation must go when someone asks them what they do for a living....

"What do you do for a living?"
"Me? Oh, I'm one of the lambs in a kilt singing "Old MacDonald had a lunch" in the Sesame Street Live show. What do you do?"

Try to top that one.

Happy Birthday Fran!

A little delayed, since it was the 31st, but I wanted to figure out how to make a photo collage in PSE, and these were the most recent mass accumulations of pictures that were taken, so here they are. You can't tell from the pictures, but I really was there. I was just taking the pictures the whole time.

Boys & Dirt.

Perfect combination.

Bring on the beans!!

I know anyone who doesn't already love green beans is sure to be enticed now....
