I hope everyone has/has had a fabulous day! I want to thank everyone for their support for Walk to Empower- I raised $555 for the cause! Yay! The walk was great- beautiful weather.... and I had a great Mother's Day!Gidget is my sidekick's new name. As with my children, I needed a two syllable name you could shorten (technically, Cam-er-on is 3 syllable, but it's pronounced as two, so it counts for me.), and it fits. Yay!

I don't know if anyone else does this, but when remembering things- names, locations, events... I can always remember how many syllables, what it sounds like, and usually the letter it starts with. Since everyone who has had the misfortune of driving around with me lost has found that quite bizarre, I feel a little weird confessing it. But it was a large factor in naming my children. I wanted two syllables, and I wanted them to sound good together, and both of them needed to be able to shorten (unlike my own name- no, don't try it. NONE of what you will come up with sounds good, so don't go there except in your head) to a cute, preferrably 3 letter name. My rationale is that everyone throughout your life will shorten your name anyways (or constantly try to in my case), so you might as well make it something workable and easy on them. Now that you've learned enough weird things about me for one day....
ANYways, Gidge (or Gidgie, if you'd prefer) got a new eye today for Mama's Day- one that zooms quite well! :) Totally diggin' it. It's kind of heavy though, and I'm trying to decide if it's a keeper or a trader for more practicality. The f-stop on it only goes down to 3.5, and I think I'd like something a little lower, even if it does have a little less zoom. Any opinions would be great- I think I'm going to head down to Houston Camera Center this week and get some more knowledgable advice (although that's not saying much, because I know little more than nothing on this subject matter).
In other news, I also got a snazzy new purse, and a ring from my MIL that was Brent's grandmother's. VERY cool. Yes, I cried. Lots. Whew. Big moment. It's a pearl ring with two pearls ( for each of the babes of mine) and 4 diamonds around it. Very pretty, and very very sentimental. Very cool to have these kind of things with Brent's family, since my family 'bush' has not much of that sort.
The cookie bouquet was recieved with much love, as was the accordian album I made her. Yay!

That's awesome you raised so much $$$. I'm glad you had a great Mom's day too! Love the name for your camera too. Makes me want to name mine.
Well I was hoping for Bubbalina, but Gidget's good too :)
Glad the walk turned out well.
The ring sounds awesome!
I have a heavy zoom I bought (Canon 28-105mm), I keep it on my camera all the time actually. But I have no idea if it's considered good.
happy mom's day! gidget's cute! i was gonna suggest daisy!
LOVE "Gidget"! Excellent name!
Oh... I have some of that weird quirkiness about remember the first letter and syllables. Whenever I can't think of someone's name or a place, I run through the alphabet in my head and 99% of the time it comes to me.
Yea - your name's hard to shorten. Won't go there. I find only Italian's call me "Col". Pretty funny. (The exception being my sister.) No one if my family has ever called me anything but my full name.
I'm not much help on the f-stop thing. See? I told you I forget those things quickly (but I did print out that whole on-line chat for reference!). All I know is I love my D50. And over the course of 6 baseball games, I've taken over 500 photos. I *heart* my D50.
I'm sure if you're going to a "real" camera store, they will be happy to spend time talking about it with you. They love to have a customer who "gets it" and wants the best camera for their needs.
I want to see a picture of the ring!! What an amazing gift!
Gidget...love it! So, who was the winner with that? So glad you had a great Mom's Day. The ring sounds spectacular!
~Kel :)
The ring sounds amazing, what a special gift. Love the name Gidget! I'm picky with shortened names, I'll do it with Cassie, but never Matthew. And people who shorten my name to Lis are just plain lazy! It's just one more letter guys... c'mon you can do it!
Ok.....you got alot for Mom's day. I got a card from my youngest and the luxury of haveing a big party for my nephew to clean up after. Hmmmmmmm.....I think I went wrong there didn't I?
Very sweet pictures!
